This NGO was established over 25 years ago in Alcalá de Henares to help the needy. They have 2 other branches, in Vigo (Galicia) and Alicante.
This organization is run by Christians who are guided by their faith to help those who are helpless and not within the reach of government help. They strive to bring hope where there seems to be none.
They run a soup kitchen where they serve a hot meal to 30 to 40 people daily, 7 days a week. They also distribute sandwiches and a hot drink at night, as well as distribute weekly rations of staples to about 70 needy families every week., distributing about 40 to 50 kilos of food to each family per month.
Their motto is taken from the Bible “man cannot survive on bread alone”; therefore, they conduct prayer meetings and try to give emotional comfort to those who approach them.
They try to help drug addicts with their addiction problems, taking them into their centre and living with them, shadowing them to ensure that they don’t relapse. They try to teach them a skill and give them work in construction or light repair work, painting etc.
They do odd jobs to generate funds to enable them to run the centres. They also rely on private donations from other organizations such as IWCA. We periodically give them oil, cleaning products and other items to facilitate their commendable labour.
They also run a bazaar and second hand furniture shop where they sell pieces of furniture that have been donated to them after lovingly restoring them.
